We say “God did it” when the raise comes, the offer hits, or the spotlight finds us.
But have we ever stopped to ask—was it really God?
This episode started with a question that hit me while walking outside with my mic in hand:
What does a true opportunity from God actually look like?
We call it favor. We call it promotion. We call it a blessing. But if a famous person offers you a high-paying position today, or a platform opens up with massive exposure—are you discerning who’s behind the door? Or are you just celebrating because it benefits you?
When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, the enemy didn’t offer pain—he offered elevation. Platforms. Riches. Visibility. Power. It looked like favor. But Jesus knew better.
So I’ve been wondering…
Is what we call “promotion” just someone trying to pull us off our assignment?
Is what we label “opportunity” really just a prettier version of the same trap?
Are we being moved by God—or maneuvered by systems?
Because real favor? Real opportunity? It’s not always flashy. Sometimes it looks like a cross. Sometimes it looks like a step back. Sometimes it’s quiet, like a seed underground—growing before it breaks the surface.
And let’s be honest: popularity is just population control. Whoever controls the information controls what we celebrate. So maybe the thing we’re glorifying isn’t even the thing God’s doing.
“Your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you openly.” —Matthew 6
“Seek first the Kingdom… and all these things will be added to you.” —Matthew 6:33
That’s where this all led me. When you truly seek the Kingdom, you begin to see through the noise. You begin to realize that not everything “big” is blessed. And not every “step forward” is upward.
So here’s the challenge: What does real promotion look like? What does real opportunity feel like? And who gets the glory when it shows up?
Let’s stay on the search.
