DAY 9: No Separation: The Veil Torn and the Return to Oneness
Reading Matthew 25-27
It’s Day Nine! We’re reading Matthew chapters 25–27. Of course, we’re staying on course with this month’s theme: reestablishing the norm.
Too often, society, culture, and the systems around us shape our priorities. They convince us to chase things that are ultimately just diminishing goods.
But Jesus reminds us: You were sent here for a reason. You have an assignment. You carry something God placed inside you for this time. And you’re responsible to use what God has given you to implement His will, His ways, and His Kingdom into the earth.
This is not an extraordinary calling—it’s the normal life of one who knows they were sent. As the story unfolds through the chapters, Jesus also shows us something else: It’s not out of the norm to be betrayed. It’s not out of the norm to be denied.
But how do we respond?
We respond by continuing forward. By giving our lives, unshaken by the actions of others, staying rooted in who we really are and what we’re here for.
In chapter 27, we reach a pivotal moment: the crucifixion. We see Jesus on the cross, giving His life. And at the end of the chapter, something powerful happens: “The veil was torn.” What does this mean? In the Old Testament, there was always a barrier between man and God. A literal curtain in the temple separated the people from the Holy of Holies—the very presence of God. Only priests could enter, and even then, only once a year. But when the veil tore, it marked the end of separation. Jesus reestablished the normal way God always intended:
There is no longer anything—or anyone—standing between us and Him. No priests.
No intermediaries. No curtains. We now have direct access to God—face to face, heart to heart.
This is the normal way of life Jesus was restoring to mankind: Oneness with God.
One relationship. One communication. No separation.
This is not an extraordinary privilege for a few. It’s the intended design for all of us.
As you read Matthew 25–27 today, keep this in mind:
The veil was torn to return us to the normalcy of walking with God, knowing Him intimately, and living out the purpose for which we were sent.
Jesus shows us throughout these chapters what life was always meant to look like—and how we are meant to live it.
