DAY 30: As He Is, So Are We
Reading John 20-21
Welcome to Day 30 and the final day of the RedIn30 Reading Cycle.
Today’s reading is John chapters 20 and 21.
This reading marks the normalization of victory. Jesus is raised from the dead—and instead of ascending immediately, He returns to visit the very people He walked with. And in this return, He breathes on them. He gives them power. He tells them to receive the Holy Ghost.
Then He gives them a purpose:
“Whoever's sins you retain, they are retained.
Whoever's sins you remit, they are remitted.”
In that moment, Jesus defines the normal purpose of God in us—as those who are one with Him—to remit sins. To forgive. To carry the same power He walked in. Man has the power to forgive sins.
After that, He gives a final charge to Peter:
“Feed my sheep.”
And the writer notes something striking at the end:
There were so many other works Jesus did,
that if they were all written down,
the world itself couldn’t contain the books.
That’s our charge too. As Jesus was in the world, so are we. The mission continues through us.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this reading.
Enjoy today’s reading.
