DAY 28: One with the Father
Reading John 14-16
Welcome to Day 28 of the RedIn30 Reading Cycle.
Today’s reading is John chapters 14 through 16.
In these chapters, Jesus begins to set Himself up, and in many ways, set us up for victory. Both while He is here, and after He leaves, He gives us a clear picture of our true identity.
He starts by describing Himself:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father but by Me.”
Then He builds on this, saying:
“I’m in the Father, and the Father is in Me… and you are in Me, and I’m in you.”
With that, He makes us synonymous with Himself. We are to have the same kind of relationship with God our Father—being one with God.
He also gives us a warning:
Many will put you out of their synagogues—
they’ll put you out of their religious spaces—
because you’re proclaiming something that doesn’t fit their legalistic structure.
But Jesus says,
“I’m going to send you a Comforter.”
His name is the Holy Ghost, and He will guide you into all truth.”
Then He explains what will begin to change once you truly recognize who you are.
He says:
“I am the vine, you are the branches. Abide in Me…”
That connection—abiding in Him—
is what gives you access to it all.
Finally, in chapter 16, He closes with this powerful truth:
“I have overcome the world.”
And in that, we realize that because He overcame the world, we have overcome the world.
