DAY 26: The Door, the Work, and the Truth
Reading John 8-10
Today’s reading is John chapters 8 through 10.
In John 8, Jesus gives us originality and origin when He says:
I know where I come from and I know where I’m going.
Later in that same chapter, He also says:
The one that sent me is with me.
And He says:
You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
This is the truth. We come from God, and we are sent by God here. And once we recognize this, we realize that God sent us with Himself in us to do something—to accomplish something—here on Earth.
In John 9, Jesus says:
I must work while it is day, for night comes when no man can work.
In other words, you have to do what needs to be done while you have the time to do it,
because you are here on a mission. He is reestablishing the norm of what life is—what we should expect from life, and what we should expect to produce in life. We were sent here, and we have to work while it is day. We must do the work of the One who sent us.
Then in John 10, Jesus says:
I am come that you might have life, and have it more abundantly.
He’s showing us what it looks like to function in abundance—abundance in the oneness with God,to be everything that God has said.
He also says:
I am the door. Everyone that comes another way is a robber.
When He says He’s the door, He’s talking about the way He is and the way He functions. That is the way we are to be and function in order to access the unlimited possibilities of being one with God, in God, the Father in us, and us in the Father.
