DAY 17: Forgiveness as Alignment and the Balancing of Humanity
Reading Luke 5-7
It’s Day 17! The reading for today is Luke chapters 5-7, and it’s full of powerful conversations and moments where Jesus reveals what it means to live in alignment with God’s original design.
One moment that stands out is when Jesus says: “What are you wondering about? Is it easier to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise up and walk’?” Then He adds: “But so that you may know the Son of Man has power to forgive sins…” And He tells the man: “Take up your bed and walk.”
This shows us something profound: Forgiveness is not just a feeling or a transaction for when someone has wronged us. Forgiveness is immediate manifestation in the life of an individual.
This man hadn’t done anything directly to Jesus, yet Jesus says: “Your sins are forgiven.” He’s telling him: “You’ve already been forgiven. Now align yourself with that reality. Stop living out of unalignment or missing the mark.”
Forgiveness here isn’t just spiritual—it’s holistic. It brings the man’s entire being back into alignment, allowing healing and restoration to flow naturally.
As the chapters unfold, we see Jesus continuing this work effortlessly. When John’s disciples come asking, “Are You the One, or should we look for another?”, Jesus simply says: “Go and tell John what you see: the blind receive sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.” He’s describing the normalization and balancing of humanity.
Jesus is bringing things back to level—the way God intended from the beginning. As we read Luke 5–7, it’s important not to see Jesus’ words and actions as astronomical or unattainable.
They may feel extraordinary because of the vibrations of the culture and community around them at the time. But in reality, Jesus isn’t raising the bar to some superhuman level—He’s returning it to its original place: The level God always intended for humanity.
