DAY 13: Humility as the Key to Oneness with God
Reading Mark 9-11
Today’s reading is Mark chapters 9–11. It’s Day 13, and Jesus is showing us something that keeps unfolding throughout these chapters.
The best way I can describe it is this: Jesus is consistently teaching us extreme humility—which is not so much of an extreme ability. You realize that ability actually flows from humility.
Our only real ability comes from being one with God. If God is supreme and all-powerful, then remaining one with Him means we have access to everything He commands:
• Command over spirits
• Command over health
• Command over prosperity
• And everything else under the authority of the earth.
Jesus models this beautifully. It almost feels super humble the way He speaks—so simple, so natural. It’s not like He’s working up a great revelation or acting as if He’s saying a deep, hidden mystery. He just says plainly: “If you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes.”
This opens the door for everyone. He’s not creating an exclusive club—He’s showing that belief is the key. “If you are a person who can believe, then all things are possible.”
In the next chapter, we see more of this humility. The disciples start arguing about who will be the greatest among them. Jesus responds simply: “The one who serves will be the greatest.” Then, around the same time, a man comes running to Him and says: “Good Master…” Jesus replies: “Why do you call Me good? There’s none good but One—and that is God.”
All of this points to one thing: Humility is the key to oneness with God and God-likeness. This is the normal place we’re meant to live from. Think about it:
There’s nothing we did to bring ourselves here.
There’s nothing we can do to make ourselves survive.
We can’t create air, breath, or even our own sight.
All of these are gifts from God. So humility isn’t something rare or special—it’s our normalcy.
If we can truly sit down in this reality, then we’ll find ourselves with access to the all.
